Briar Valley by J Rose

Book Review

Briar Valley is complete duet of the epic love story between Willow and her three men. This why-choose romance deals with many intense topics and situations, explores the complexities of being human and shows that family and love are always worth fighting for. This duet is one you should not enter into lightly, definitely check any warnings and take care of yourself. J. Rose’s writing is full of care and compassion, dealing with very heavy topics and emotions with a level of understanding and clarity that these complex characters deserve. Rose’s tone is compelling and this story is very well paced that it is fairly easy to navigate your way through 900 pages. Rose beautifully weaves together this emotional story with an eye to balancing the intense heaviness of the story with the growth and strength of discovering your true self and the people who help to support this growth.

This is the story of survival, the story of a mother who will do anything for her daughter, and a story of strength. Willow’s story is one full of emotional highs and lows are she takes the ultimate risks, will sacrifice anything to find the safety and chance for a future for herself and her daughter. This emotional journey shows that true strength lies in love, family and friendship. The safety that Willow discovers in Briar Valley gives her the space to grow and overcome demons and accept that while she will always struggle with depression and anxiety after all she has endured, that she is strong, she is a fighter and that she can find understanding and hope in the people she chooses to love. This why-chose romance is heavy on the plot and Willow’s journey while at its heart there are three men who love her and provide her with the additional support she needs. This romance has the perfect amount of steam that is not overly heavy handed but used in beautiful ways to show growth and companionship and trust.

This story while hard to read in moments is a beautiful journey of a woman learning and growing into the strong and independent woman she was always meant to be. This is ultimately a story about the strength of family and love. This story is about fighting for yourself and those you love.
