Forever the Highlands marks the end of a truly beautiful series from Samantha Young. This novel was utter perfection in my eyes to what has been a breathtaking, emotional, and endearing family/universe that Young has crafted with care and respect. This is the sixth installment in The Highland series which was a spin off of another well loved series that interconnects. Young has proven herself to be a master of her craft, each novel in this series stands alone beautifully while also playing a significant role in the overall picture of found family that she has created. Please do yourself a favor and pick up this series, and fall in love with each magical couple and the tapestry of characters that embodies this world!
Forever the Highlands is the romance between two people who have at various times been the perfect support for the other. This novel is not only about their support of the other, but also a personal growth in themselves that makes them stronger on their own before they can truly embrace the magic of who they can be together. This novel is a brother's best friend, it has always been you, surprise single father romance that has a layer of tension and suspense which help to showcase the trust and understanding these two have for each other. Eilidh and Fyfe are fireworks together, they have this rich foundational friendship and trust in each other which only strengthens as they fight for each other and embrace their feelings. I really loved that each of them takes things in stride, they both are wise and levelheaded which plays well within the dynamics of who they are as people and who they are together. Ultimately their romance is built on moments of trust and understanding, coupled with intense attraction and chemistry. Outside of their strong romance is also a support system of characters that we have grown to love book after book and Young does a truly magical job of showcasing these people and their relationships and how they all beautiful weave together to create this small town.
If you love romance than you have to pick up this series! While it can be read as standalones I would highly recommend reading it in order to truly experience the charm, beauty and care that Samatha Young has imbued in this novel. I am sad to take a step back from this series but also gratified to know that I can visit their world at my leisure, and I am extremely excited to see what Young has in store for us next!
