Kresley Cole brings her Arcana Chronicles full circle in this sixth and final installment. Cole's writing is crisp, clear and straightforward while still keeping a layer of heart and warmth. This novel is a journey to the end, we walk hand in hand with our friends on this road to the final battle. Cole infuses this novel with an array of emotions and we need to move through each and every one of them in order to reach the conclusion of this journey. This novel is built on the backs of the previous novels, the history of them enriches the conclusion to this epic tale and Cole brings this story beautifully to its bittersweet ending.
This novel brings back characters we have fallen in love with, characters we have questioned, characters we have hated. This novel is a beautiful, epic, and heart breaking as well as warming story in the best way. I think Kresley Cole uses care and understanding to move her characters forward in the battle, while staying true to who they have grown to be and for who they are meant to become. This conclusion is paced perfectly, as short chapters clip along bringing us to the final battle and beyond to what the new world will be. This novel must be read in order as this is a journey of this group of characters through this epic apocalyptic battle. Kresley Cole's imagination and world is expansive and interesting while still being rooted in a world that we can understand. The motivations of characters remain true to who they are and what they want and need. And though there are moments of heart ache, there are also moments of triumph and joy.
Kresley Cole has outdone herself with this series, and if you are interested in exploring and expansive apocalyptic world with rich and intriguing characters, than The Arcana Chronicles is a must read, and a really wonderful place to begin exploring Cole's work.
