Paisley Nash makes her debut with this small town, surprise dad, grumpy meets grumpy romance. Nash’s writing flows easily off the page and weaves from moment to moment taking the reader on an emotional and gratifying journey. This novel, while beefy, does find a steady pace and footing as this found family romance takes the time and care to develop a rich an emotional connection between the characters and with the reader. Through the utilization of well loved tropes, Nash is able to make her own connection and bring her story to love with heart, hope and redemption.

With two strong people at the center of this novel-Kade and Georgia, the reader is able to watch the vulnerability, understanding and trust the goes into make a true connection with other people. I really enjoyed the adoption aspect of this story as it is not always something you see in a surprise baby novel, and it also adds this additional layer of learning and opening up oneself. This the gentle weaving of sensuality we see the relationship between Kade and Georgia really develop. The relationship between Aurora (surprise daughter) also provides this really beautiful and emotional development between everyone giving a rich and unconditional foundation of love.

Happily Never After is a novel that is going to work for some and not work for others. If you like to support new and indie work then I would highly recommend. If you like to spend time and really develop a clear understanding of the characters and who they are and how they grow together then give this novel a try. If you like an emotional journey that will at times make you frustrated (especially around a 3rd act breakup) then this might just be the novel for you!

Thank you so much to Paisley Nash and her team for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
