Heartless by Elsie Silver

Elsie Silver is quickly becoming a must read author for me! This novel was such a beautiful, small town, single parent, age gap romance that worked for me in all the right ways! Elsie Silver’s writing is engaging and well paced. She builds the sensual tension beautifully between the hero and heroine, giving them time to truly learn more about the other before driving head first into a physical relationship. The banter between these two is on point and the relationship the heroine builds with the hero’s son is beyond beautiful and wonderfully heartfelt. This is the second book in the Chestnut Series and Elsie Silver has outdone herself, I really enjoyed the first but this one has swiftly become my favorite in the series so far. I would so highly recommend this novel and this series, if you have not read Elsie Silver before definitely pick her novels up!

Cade is a gruff, thirty-eight year old rancher, who has relied on the kindness of his family when it has come to some child care for his son. But this summer he is in need of a nanny, so in swoops Willa, a city girl and twenty five year old bar tender, who has never watched a child in her life. But glowing reviews from Cade’s soon to be sister in law, lead him to give her a chance as well as the fact that Cade can see an instant connection between her and his son Luke.

Cade is such a swoon worthy hero! He is a protector, he works with his hands and he is beyond loyal to those he loves. The fact that his son is always at the forefront of his mind and actions makes him a wonderful day and an ideal partner. Willa is quick witted, smart and artistic. She is able to balance fun and responsibilities really beautifully when it comes to her relationship with Luke. I love that we see her be the fun nanny who also knows what to say when it comes to respecting Cade’s rules and make sure Luke follows them. Willa opens her heart to Luke and falls head over heels for him and it is so heartwarming to watch their relationship bloom in trust and respect. I really love that Cade is able to see Willa’s love for Luke and that this becomes the most attractive thing to him beyond her beauty, because he sees her true heart in the way she treats his son. Silver does such a wonderful job in the building of these relationships that it becomes very easy to see the foundation for a family being built. Silver also balances these relationships with the budding tension of attraction and chemistry beautifully and when Willa and Cade finally give into there attraction they are explosive together. Their physical relationship is sexy and sensual, and through it the reader will feel and understand the trust and respect these two have built for the other. I love that once these two are in, they are IN, and never at any moment did I think they were not going to find a way to make things work, but rather they would give each other the time and space to work through things as they needed.

If you love a sexy hero, who loves hard and quick and will be loyal to the end, definitely pick up this book. If you love a heroine who can easily see the value in others, knows how to be fun and talk equally to a child and goes after what she wants, then definitely read this book! This series does not disappoint and I can not wait for the next installment!
