Mama's Boy by Avery Flynn

This book is funny, sensual and an absolute delight. Avery Flynn has a way with crafting a great romcom that is engaging and accessible. Flynn's tone is conversational and lighthearted, creating the perfect blend for hilarious and heartfelt moments. This novel is quick paced, full of amusing situations and sweetly sensual. This is such a fun start to a new series that is peopled with other wonderful characters in Flynn's world.

Dixon, the hero, is the CEO of a million dollar beauty company, he is known as a Mama's Boy (by his cousins), and he has been damaged in love and relationships. Fiona, the heroine, is a third grade teacher, a family girl who has been trying to help her grandma's skin care line get some face to face time with Dixon's company, and unlucky in love. When Dixon and his cousins enter into a bet around who will fall in love first, Dixon is determined to win, so he sets up a dating profile on a app with very unlikable qualities hoping to attract the perfect girl that he will have no chance of falling in love with. When Fiona comes across his profile she finds this to be the perfect opportunity to get herself in front of Dixon and hopefully give her grandma's skin care line a chance to succeed. Hilarity ensues as these two embark on a six date bet, in which Dixon's cousins will plan the dates and Dixon and Fiona will not fall in love.

These two both enter into this fake dating relationship with preconceived notions of each other but as each of their dates enfold they learn there is so much they did not realize. The dates and situations that Dixon and Fiona go through are funny and charming. I love that this novel really focuses on Dixon and Fiona's dating relationship as they slowly get to know each other. They are both physically attracted to each other and they try to keep their relationship non physical but that is extremely hard due to the situations they are put in and the respect that is slowly growing between them. I really liked that when they decided to enter into a physical relationship you could tell that this decision was made after they had a chance to grow their attraction past just the appearance level. These two are sensual together, their banter and conversations are wonderful, and watching them fall for the other is an absolute delight. Due to past heartbreaks, we of course experience a third act break up but the grovel was wonderful and this book was very enjoyable.

I would definitely recommend this novel, it is a great contemporary romance, with fake dating, a mistreated in love hero and heroine who learn to love again, funny situations, great side characters and a great addition to the Flynn Universe. I am looking forward to the next two novels in this series!
