This small town, one night stand, age gap romance is full of heart, angst, and delight. Melanie Harlow continues to bring to life the Cloverleigh Farm series to life with the second generation in such a lovely way. I adore the small town, the family and friendships, the community and the love that Harlow has crafted in this broad series. Harlow's writing is open and engaging, well balanced and paced beautifully, all to create a wonderful story telling environment with rich characters and interactions. If you love expansive families, happy ever afters and a small town setting full of wonderful tropes then Melanie Harlow is definitely the author for you!
A one night stand is all Millie and Zack ever expected from each other, but they have not been able to get the other off their mind after a night of passion. While managing her ex-boyfriends wedding, Millie and Zack chance to meet each other again, with the learned understanding that Zack is Millie's ex's recently discovered biological dad. These two believe that they should not be together but they are having a hard time not talkings, texting and touching.
Harlow ramps up the tension, sensuality and angst in this novel. Millie is the oldest of her siblings and also the last to find love. She deeply wants to find her happily ever after and start a family, but the stars have yet to align. Millie is smart, independent and hard working and she is also finding herself at a cross roads in life where she wants to expand her career and start her own bridal boutique with inclusive sizing, because being a plus sized woman herself and seeing plus size brides being unfairly treated she knows this is a passion that she can improve on. Zach is a protector at heart, a proclaimed loner, and in a new stage of his life learning that he fathered a child 26 years ago. When Zach and Millie meet they are both instantly drawn together and their chemistry is off the charts. I love how attracted they are to the other, I love that Zach's age is not an issue for Millie, I love that Zach finds Millie's body stunning and beautiful and he can not get enough of her. I love that even though their relationship starts off physically, and is physically driven, Harlow still spends the time showing these two build a deeper relationship with each other. I delighted that the primal instinct these two have for each other draws them together again and again. Harlow does a lovely job of ramping up the tension between them in a beautiful way, as well as keeping the lines of communication open between them. Neither of them ever feels betrayed by the other, rather they both just need to work out on their own what they want and what they are going to fight for.
Zach and Millie's relationship is built on steamy chemistry, an openness and understanding of the other, and a passion for what is best for the other person. They both care so deeply about the other person and you can see this in the ways they interact, communicate and show their love without saying the words. I loved these two together, they are perfect partners. If you love a sensually steamy relationship built on communication and understanding then this romance is the one for you. Melanie Harlow does a beautiful job with this novel and it will definitely leave you with a smile and a warm heart!
I very highly recommend this novel, this series and Melanie Harlow. Harlow is definitely a must read author for me and I am looking forward to her next releases!
