To Win Her Hand by Jen Geigle Johnson

Jen Geigle Johnson charms and delights in her recent release To Win Her Hand. Johnson’s writing easily flows out onto the page, swiftly drawing the reader in from the first line. Her characters are lively and fun, and perfectly matched against the other. Her prose is smooth with an ease and accessibility that roots this novel with wit and banter. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for future releases from Johnson and would highly encourage you to explore this novel.

A matchmaker hero and heroine who are rivals! Just this alone was enough for me to pick up this novel, and Johnson’s characters were the anchor to pull and keep me turning page after page. Our hero is the absolute gentleman, he has wonderful poise and the perfect charismatic charm to make him the perfect gentleman to guide men in the wooing of woman. Our heroine while reserved and hesitant at times, has a cautious nature bred out of her past marriage which helps her to guide innocent young women as they breach the treacherous walls of society. These two together absolutely sizzle, the hero is enamored by the heroine and watching their dance of wits is beyond charming. Their interactions with each other have such an endearing quality especially when it is juxtaposed with the way they are in their careers. Johnson does a lovely job of balancing a growing chemistry between these two, with some lighthearted humor of various ways to go about courtship. Johnson’s development of the main and secondary characters in this novel is beautifully rooted in dimensionality and left me curious and excited for future stories in this series.

If you are looking for a world of interesting characters, that is enhanced by banter and wit, is rooted in sweetness and learning to trust, and balanced with humor and heart, then To Win Her Hand is sure to be the book for you. This is my first novel from Jen Geingle Johnson and it will surely not be my last.
