A.L. Jackson truly never ceases to amazing me! At the Edge of Surrender is a stunningly beautiful third addition to the Moonlit Ridge series. This found family, brotherhood series is full of depth and explores the gray shades of morality. What mades a man a good man, and how do his actions define him? Jackson does not shy away from these hard questions while she also explores the richly cathartic nature of finding your soul mate, a perfect match who both brings you this level of peace and fullness, while opening your world up to the potential of devastation. Jackson's writing is clear and poetical, as the reader weaves between the hero and heroine's points of view with a sprinkling of the past which she tells in third person, creating the perfect layer of distance between the past and present. Jackson's characters are intriguing and full of life, who they are is built from their difficult pasts and the resilience they found when they became a family, and the are characters the reader can understand and relate to on a base level, making them feel real.

This romance is between Kane and Emery, who are essentially brought together by Maci, Kane's surprise daughter and Emery's niece. These two are first drawn to the other during a chance encounter at one of Kane's bars, and when Emery finds out that he is the person she is here to hand her heart over to, she begins to question if Kane is truly the safety net that Maci needs. This romance is sensual and sexy, while also being down to earth and full of such beautiful heart. It is about family, and how loving someone makes them your family even if you are not related to by blood. It is about safety and finding a soft place to land. It is about caring so deeply for someone that you would do absolutely anything to make them happy and feel safe. This romance weaves together Emery's past the the tragedy of her sisters death, with finding the strength to fight for what she truly needs and reaching for a love so deep that she will be enriched by the new family that surrounds here. Kane is also such a wonderful hero, his instinct and care for those he loves is his deepest strength and watching that so easily spread to Maci and Emery is truly beautiful.

A.L. Jackson is a writing who will also take me on an engaging, romantic journey that makes me see that the world is just not black and white and that people are so full of color that we need to see who they are through their small actions. Jackson is a must read author for me! This is a must read series, which can be read as standalones, but is truly a work of art when read in order!

Thank you so much to Valentine PR for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
