Book Review
Another perfect romantic suspense from Catherine Cowles! Cowles is confidently in her element with this small town, found family romance! Sparrow Falls is such a wonderful series and Broken Harbor, the third installment, is absolute magic. Cowles's writing is evocative, illuminating, suspenseful and romantic. Broken Harbor is a single mom and hockey star romance set in the backdrop of a close knit town and an even closer knit family who has open arms to those around them. Cowles is one of those author's who you know you can trust to provide you with an interesting and intense store, a dreamy romance, and the warmth and support of family and friends. Broken Harbor is easy to get lost within the pages and to root for this couple who proves to be the perfect match for the other.
I love that when I go into Cowles novels I know that I am going to get a gratifing relationship that gets built with trust, communication and understanding. I know that no matter what the early obstacles are, they are no match for the chemistry and devotion that these two will feel in the end. I know that there will be no third act breakup but rather an interesting and plot twisting suspense that with prove to the couple they are meant for each other! Broken Harbor is another great example of what to expect from Cowles. Broken Harbor is full of live, laughter, fun, heartbreak and uncertainty. Cowles knows how to balance the multitudes of the human experience and emotions within her pages, she has a way with making the reader fall in love with each of her characters, and she unfolds these interesting stories and plots around the comfort of the everyday. I loved watching Cope and Sutton fall for each other. I loved watching Cope fall for Sutton's son. I loved seeing Cope learn to face his guilt and open his heart to the joy and potential of building a family.
Through emotions, moments and sizzling chemistry, Sutton and Cope circle each other. Watching them learn who the other is, see the truth of that person and their strength is such a beautiful way that they build the foundation of their relationship. I also love that Sutton, who is this strong and independent women, has this great support system in Thea and the Colson's that she learns to lean on others and give her trust unconditionally. Cowles has a way of creating these big emotions and intense situations and weaving them into the gentleness of a small town that makes her stories and characters compelling and realistic. With her engaging writing, I am easily swept away into the story and I feel like I am living a long side and friends with the characters.
Catherine Cowles is a must read author for me, I will always immediately jump at picking up a new release from her. If you are looking for a romantic suspense that centers an epic romance with a keep you on your toes suspense, then she is an author you MUST check out!
Thank you so much to Catherine Cowles and her team for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
