Book Review

This third installment in Tia Louise’s Bradford series is a second chance romance between two high school sweethearts you grew apart. Louise’s writing is clear, fun and engaging. This third book in a series can easily be read as a standalone and I found that it definitely made me interested in picking up the two previous novels. The Way We Score has really charming and I adored that this novel focus on the rediscovery of a person you truly loved and relearning who they are now, and how your priorities have shifted from when they were first becoming young adults.

Garrett and Olivia are high school sweethearts who were determined to stay together forever, but youth and selfishness tore them apart. Now a lifetime later they are back in each other’s orbit for Garrett’s sister’s wedding. A few nights of passion lead to a surprise pregnancy that opens them both up to really discovering what they want and need for this next stage of life. This rediscovery of each other this richly romantic and considerate. Garrett knows this is his chance to prove himself to Olivia and show that he is a different man who is ready to put her and their family first. I really enjoyed that this novel was moments of clear and thoughtful decision making. I loved that these two take the time to show they care and that this is what they want. This is a low angst, sensual, and sweet rediscovery and rebuilding of a relationship and I truly enjoyed this journey.

I would definitely recommend this novel especially to anyone who loves these tropes. I truly enjoyed this novel as a discovery and entry point into Tia Louise’s work, who I have been meaning to read for a while now. This was definitely a novel that will encourage me to explore her backlist and I am curious about the future installments in this series.
