Duke is the romance that answers the question what happens when two independent people are constantly drawn to the other, and how sometimes love does not worry about "right time" but is always about "right place". Jessica Peterson's fourth installment in the Lucky River Ranch series takes the snowed in and surprise pregnancy tropes and takes the time for the hero and heroine to really explore their options. Peterson's writing is engaging, her characters are dimensional, and her romance is one of care and understanding.
Duke and Wheeler are constantly drawn to the other, but they both are looking for a long term romance, they believe their goals in life are keeping them out of relationships and on a solo path for the current foreseeable future. But these two just cant help but be drawn to the other. Their chemistry sparkles and when they find themselves snowed in they can't keep their hands off the other! Peterson brilliantly brings this tension filled romance to life and Duke is such a swoonworthy hero. I love that when these two are faced with a pregnancy they take the time to talk to each, explore what their future might look like and not judge the other as they work through a range of emotions. These two soon learn that they are partners and can lean on the other in more ways then one. They both learn that sometimes your dreams for the future don't need to be put on hold but can be looked at under a different lens. I adored watching these two become best friends and lovers. I loved seeing them learn to communicate, trust and understand the other. I loved watching them both open their hearts to the other and a new and exciting future they did not even think to dream of!
Jessica Peterson is one of those authors for me, that is a bit quiet and unassuming, but always works for me and delivers a rich and gratifying romance! Definitely pick up Duke today!
