Catherine Cowles is absolutely brilliant and can do no wrong in my eyes! I adored this novel! I am adoring this series! And I am constantly falling in love with the characters that Cowles creates. Glimmers of You is the third novel in Cowles' The Lost and Found series and it is such a beautiful addition to this solid series. Cowles' writing has a layer of care and understanding, it is sensual and sexy, it walks the line of angsty while balancing plot and romance perfectly. This novel is well paced, perfectly laying out past histories and perceived situations that make the hero and heroine dance around their emotions for the other. Cowles writing has a conversational tone that smoothly draws the reader in, is understandable, and keeps you turning page after page. After reading a Cowles novel I always have the desire to read another of her novels and eagerly bide my time until her next release.
Glimmers of You beautifully brings to life Grae and Caden's romance. This brother's best friend, kinda second chance romance is lovingly brought to life with care and understanding. Grae has type 1 diabetes and the subtle way Cowles shows how Grae lives her life gives a really lovely understanding of what it might be like to live with this chronic illness. I love that her illness does not make her who she is, I love that she is a strong and confident woman, who knows how to take care of herself, and learns throughout the story to speak up about what she needs from the people around her. Caden is also such a loving and considerate hero. He might downplay his true feelings out of protecting himself (content note for sibling death's in the past), but he slowly learns to trust himself and his heart. Caden and Grae together make a really beautiful team, Cowles is able to show that their past relationship was one of true understanding, and their romantic journey is about remembering and growing upon that understanding. Their chemistry is subtle and slowly sizzles up until the moment of combustion. I could not help but be charmed throughout as they both dance around each other and enter into a fake beneficial relationship. Watching forced proximity work its magic, these two learn that they are unable to keep their lips and hands off the other. Cowles uses their physical relationship to show us that they are both moving into a deeper understanding of the other and the wants and desires they both have.
This novel is romantic. This novel is intriguing. This novel will have you second guessing who is trying to tear these two apart. This novel will have you laughing and crying. I loved Grae and Caden, I loved watching them fall back in love. I loved watching them learn to fight for the other. I love watching they learn to support the other. I love watching them trust each other. Catherine Cowles really does a wonderful job showing that their relationship is one build on consensuality. It is one built on understanding what the other needs. It is one of care and hard work. It is one about trusting the other person wholeheartedly to know what they other needs and wants.
I so highly recommend this novel and all of Catherine Cowles works. She is a must read author for me, and this is a must read series! I am beyond excited to see where this series goes and I know I am going to love the ride.
Thank you so much to Catherine Cowles for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
