Northern Twilight is the friends to lovers story that I have been waiting for since the first novel in this series! Samantha Young gifts her readers with this intimate second chance romance between two soul mates! I fell head over heels for these characters books ago and I feel in love with them all over again with their flaws and misunderstandings. Young's writing is beautifully clear, her characters endearingly complex and her world open and enriched by deep friend and family values. I walked into this novel with high expectations and Samantha Young met each one of them for me!
Callie and Lewis are absolutely end game and I was along for their emotional ride from page one. Young brings to live this first love romance and layers it with heartbreak, misunderstandings, attraction, sensuality, and a feeling of home. Young shows us the uncertainty of first love, the longevity of true love, and the power of forgiveness and unconditional love. Watching these characters grow is an emotional journey that the reader goes on with them as they become the people they are meant to be. Their emotional connection is extremely deep and even though uncertainties and misunderstandings ripped them apart, the growth they are able to do separately helps to create an even stronger foundation and trust with each other. Their chemistry sizzles off the page and watching these two learn to trust again is so stunning. The years they spent apart only helped them to both grow more certain of their love as well as experience parts of growing up for themselves. This friends to lovers, second chance, surprise baby romance was the perfect love story for who Callie and Lewis are. Samantha Young shows her respect for these characters in the care that she has put into their story.
I so highly recommend this novel and Samantha Young! I immediately finished this story and had to reread-Beyond the Thistle, the story we first meet Callie and Lewis in. This series is an absolute must read, Young's writing is evocative, caring and heartwarming!
