Melanie Harlow is definitely a go to author for me, and she absolutely thrives in a small town setting with a grumpy single father! Runaway Love is the first book in her new series-Cherry Tree Harbor, and it is such a charming and delightful start to what is looking like a fun and light hearted series. Harlow's writing is perfectly balanced between sensuality and humor, this novel has a bit more of a strong romantic comedy feel than some of her others, and she definitely succeeds in creating this light hearted romance. Harlow builds this small town with rich and interesting characters who give the town a uniqueness and supportive environment for both the hero and heroine.
This novel has the normal Harlow charm that I adore with the delicious layer of humor that gives this novel a fresh feel to her other small town romances. Harlow thrives with a grumpy hero who is not looking for love and a heroine who will tempt him at every turn. This novel read to me like a romcom and I found it to be fast paced, full of charming characters, and well balanced between small town antics and sensuality. Harlow knows how to build up the tension between her characters and it is done beautifully until it boils over into an explosion of emotions. I love that both hero and heroine are equally attracted to the other, I love that they enter into a benefits situation (that they both have trouble sticking to), I love that Harlow smartly balances the children in the story, and I love that there is such a wonderful support system where help and advice can be freely given.
This novel is sexy and fun in all of the right places. If you love a hilarious small town romance that is full of sexy and romantic moments, than this is the novel for you! Melanie Harlow is definitely a must read author that you are sure to enjoy. I am so excited to see how this series builds and grows and watching other people in this town get their happily ever afters!
