If you are in the mood for an angsty and messy read, that Elizabeth O'Roark is an author you must pick up. Her newest series-The Summer Series, is deliciously messy and stress inducing angsty! The Summer I Saved You is the second in this series and it was a sexy, frustrating, bittersweet and romantic single parent, boy next door, it's always been you romance. This novel is well paced, intriguing and easily devoured in one sitting. Elizabeth O'Roark is not afraid to put her characters to the test creating that delicious pull of will they, wont they. But the tension and build up is always worth the wait to watch a couple get their much deserved happily ever after!
The Summer I Saved You is about growth and character development. The heroine-Lucie is at a cross road in her life, she is finally fighting for what she wants and deserves. She is a strong woman, learning her independence, learning what it means to fight for the happiness of not only herself but her children. She knows what matters most and she is finally gaining the confidence to speak up for herself. The hero-Caleb is savy and a hard and dedicated worker, this is his story of growth and learning what he really wants, learning to fight for something he has never had, and learning that heartache and vulnerability can be worth the fight for something much greater. Lucie and Caleb has such beautiful chemistry and tension, they both challenge each other in good ways, they both become protective of the other, and they both learn they must work together and believe in their relationship in order to create the family that they deserve. Watching these two learn to be open with the other is really gratifying, they both learn what truly matters in moments of frustration and heartache and they both learn to never settle for less.
This story is romantic, sensual, and full of delightful and heartwarming moments between two people learning to chose each other as well as two children who deserve to see and understand the love of two people who will always have their back. This novel will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, please check trigger warnings, but when you make it to the end you will be left with a full and happy heart!
