The Truth About Myths by Giovanna Siniscalchi

Giovanna Siniscalchi has a way of weaving together a romance with a plot heavy backdrop, creating an experience that is intriguing and rooted in history in a unique and interesting way. Siniscalchi's writing is rich in description and situations that provide a diverse and new look into historical romance. The Truth About Myths is the third installment in her The Winemakers series which is set in Portugal and Spain in the late 1870s. Siniscalchi's series is definitely worth the exploration if you are tired of the typical London Ballroom and are looking to add a different outlook in a Victorian Set world.

The Truth About Myths is the romance between Viscount Henrique and Princess Isabel. Their romance definitely has a bit of a backseat feel when you take in the plotting of this novel which focuses heavily on honor, duty and love. This novel is definitely full of rich research and details, opening up the realistic nature of the world, making the style almost boarder on a Historical Fiction side of literature than a pure romance. I think the is a steady underlining of romance that show how Henrique and Isabel start to work together and trust each other. The physical side of their romance is slow burn and softly explored as they grow more bold in their explorations. Because the romance feels a bit more secondary to the plot, I was not always fully engrossed in their relationship, making their chemistry something that I did not fully feel the pining for.

I definitely feel that if you like your historical romance heavy on the history and plot and a sweet and fairly low angst romance on the side, than Siniscalchi's work is definitely for you. This novel and series is a well thought out an plotted one, that has brief moments of sensuality and romance.

Thank you so much to Giovanna Siniscalchi for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
