A.L. Jackson's first foray into fantasy romance comes to its conclusion in Walking in Darkness. Jackson brings to life this Urban Fantasy Romance with the lyrical elegance I love in her contemporary romances. Through vivid and evocative descriptions, Jackson breathes life into this battle between good and evil, and this parallel dream world and our own. Walking in Darkness is a fast paced conclusion to Aria and Pax's story, and Jackson beautiful enriches this world with deeper understanding into these characters and the lives they lead.

This romance is one that is solid and strong, we experienced the deep connection these two had in the first novel and this novel provides a clearer and deeper look into this eternal bond. I loved that the romance is what provides strength and clarity in this battle between good and evil. I loved that Aria and Pax support each other in every moment, they believe in the other, and would do anything to protect the other and help them complete their mission. I really loved this juxtaposing of what evil looks like, creates and thrives in humanity when built by insecurities, jealousy and uncertainties. I loved that hope, love, and determination are what give power to fight the ultimate evils of the world. Jackson using this dream realm of battle and the riff of bringing it into the "real" world is a really interesting way to explore the battles of unrealized evils.

A.L. Jackson is one of my top favorite authors, and someone I will always recommend. I really loved this novel and this duology. It has Jackson's tone and style and brings in a unique and interesting world that Jackson has not explored in other novels!

Thank you to Valentine PR for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
