Book Review

When Sparks Fly is a lighthearted romance, perfect from the summertime! Monica Murphy's humorous and conversational tone gives this single father, opposites attract love story the perfect foundation to bloom before the readers eyes. When Sparks Fly is sure to intrigue the reader from the cover alone, and then they will stay to watch this heroine grown and because the independent woman she is meant to be!
I definitely picked this book up for the tropes–single father, firefighter, and a meet cute which features little clothing and a mishap! This novel had a lot of things going for it before it even started. Murphy then uses these to her strength to softly develop this story of two people you would never thing we fall for the other. When Sparks Fly is really a soft romance in my eyes, and really focuses on the journey of who our heroine is. Her journey is to learn how to stand on her own two feet, discover what true friendship means, and learn that love is not selfish.
If you are looking for a journey of discovery, filled with humor, a little bit of heartbreak, and pride, than When Sparks Fly is sure to meet the mark! I really enjoyed this novel and would definitely recommend if you are in need of a beach read for this summer.
