When We Burn by Kristen Proby

When We Burn is the stunningly beautiful start to Kristen Proby's newest series-The Blackwells of Montana. This novel gripped me from the very start and is a truly beautiful spin off from the Wilds of Montana series which has just reached its end. I am so glad we are still in this town and universe and we are expanding outward. Proby's writing is clear, engaging and full of emotional depth. Her characters are complex and very easy to relate to and champion. I always know that when I pick up a Kristen Proby novel I am going to easily be swept up into a romance that is going to leave me full. Proby is a comfort author for me and with each new novel I fall more in love with her works, her worlds, and her characters!

This is Bridger and Dani's romance, Bridger is a single father and Dani is his best friend's sister. Dani grew up with an abusive father and Bridger was always her safe place to land, but it has been a handful of years since they last really saw each other, and now that she is his daughter's new teacher and living right across the street their relationship is about to grow into something they both have always secretly desired. This novel is beyond romantic and heart warming. Bridger is such a wonderful father, and he is so taken with Dani that he is willing to do anything to provide her with the comfort and safety she deserves. The heart of their romance is really in the building of a family, and when they come together the pieces just fit so smoothly. I loved watching Dani build a relationship with his daughter, she finds this beautiful kinship and protective nature that blossoms for this little girl and she is such a wonderful female role model. I love that when Bridger and Dani are all in, they are all in! I am a fan of a no 3rd act breakup because it shows the strength of the relationship they have been building, it shows clear communication and understanding which is why their romance is so believable.

If you are ready to fall in love than pick up this novel! I will forever sing the praises of Kristen Proby, of the worlds she builds and the memorable characters that live in my heart!
