This forbidden romance is woven together with grief, healing, moments of truth and understanding, heart and care. Brittany Cherry is a master at her craft and a must read author for me. Cherry's writing has a compelling ease that swiftly draws the reader in, her pacing is perfection-keeping the reader engaged and interested, and her characters are beautifully real and rounded. The Coldest Winter is a stunningly heart felt and romantic addition to Cherry's catalogue of work.

This novel was exactly what I was wanting and needing it to be. This novel starts out as a forbidden romance after a one night stand between a student teacher and a student she is tutoring. But past this surface level of understanding is a story of two people who can both relate to the other, can challenge each other, and provide support to each other. Brittany Cherry explores two people who are perfect soul mates for the other, and who understand each other, and who fall swiftly and deeply for the other. This novel is woven together and explores a wide range of emotions as both characters find themselves at moments of growth and points in which they must make decisions for the future. I think Cherry does a wonderful job showing these two as the perfect partner for the other. They are supportive, open and trustworthy. They both learn when they need to give the other space and distance, and they both trust in their feelings that they will find a way to be together. I love that their love has an ease and gravity to it. Their chemistry is sizzling and this novel is sexy and sensual and really helps to show the reader the depth of the hero and heroine's feelings for the other. I love that both only want what is best for the other, I love how they find ways to boldly and quietly support the other when the situation calls for it. I love that we see them grow together, I love that we see the characters around them change for the better because of the growth they are doing together.

This standalone novel is definitely a must read for any Brittany Cherry fan and I would highly recommend this as a lovely place to start if you have never read Cherry before! Be prepared to go on an emotional journey that will make you laugh and cry and will leave you with a heart full of love and happiness.
