The Stand-In by Kristen Proby

Book Review

This book absolutely tugged on everyone of my heart strings.

Kristen Proby continues to expand her Williams/Montgomery clan in the latest installment in the Single in Seattle series. I have been continuously charmed from her first novel in the With Me in Seattle series and continue to be delighted with each new family member’s romances. Proby’s writing is clean and elegantly simplistic, creating the perfect tone to engage her audience. Her world and characters are crafted with love and care. Each novel is like a warm and comforting hug, that I am always looking forward to being within her ever expanding world.

This novel explores the romance between single mom and entrepreneur London and quarterback football coach Drew. The attraction between these two absolutely sparkles and the understanding and openness that Drew brings to this relationship is heartwarming. Watching Drew fall in love with London and her son is the true heart and beauty of this novel. The understanding he brings to how their relationship needs to have an additional level of care is absolutely beautiful. I fell in love with Drew right along with London. Heart, humor, growth and openness give Drew and London the care they need to take their attraction to the next level and trust each other with their hearts. Proby also uses this novel to lay the seeds for the next branch in this ever growing series and I am left delighted and excited for this expansion!

Proby’s novels are perfect for anyone looking for a warm hug of a book, with low angst, a sensual and sweet love story, and the backdrop of strong familial support. If you want a quick and sweet escape than Kristen Proby is the author for you! You can pick up any novel and easily slide into her world and then have the joy of a robust catalogue of works to continue to explore!
